Summer 2008, Lindau

Posted on: 12/10/2008

In the summer of 2008, a lucky group of King students were given the opportunity to take a trip to Germany. In previous years, the school had a partnership set up with the Gymnasium Pampow. However, due to events beyond our control, we were forced to find a new partnership school and we were fortunate to find Valentin-Heider Gymnasium in beautiful Lindau, Germany. Students were able to experience a true German High School, see an opera in downtown Munich, visit famous monuments in the Bodensee region and Munich, view the semi-final of the European Soccer Championship in the Munich Olympic Stadium, and take a boat trip through the Lindau harbor and over to Austria. During our month-long trip, the students were exposed to aspects of German culture that are impossible to learn about from a book, as well as creating their own adventures and discovering Germany for themselves.
